SUMMARY:Workplace Pride Corporate Advocacy for LGBT+ Rights Webinar
DESCRIPTION:For years businesses have been coming to terms with the fact that their presence and activities around the world have an increasingly visible impact in the communities where they work. This comes with a responsibility to their own employees\, as well as to the local legislative and cultural environment; including LGBT+ people. In the wake of the many ongoing social changes such as the global pandemic\, employers realise that the workplace narrative has changed. Attracting and retaining talent from all backgrounds\, creating safe workplaces for all and being a good corporate citizen toward communities and clients\, means that being silent is no longer an option.  \n\n\n\nWorkplace Pride\, with support from IBM\, has created a report on Corporate Advocacy for LGBT+  Rights to assist our members and other businesses with their advocacy. The paper was created from extensive research and interviews with actual practitioners from business\, diplomatic\, and civil society communities. It takes a very practical approach by addressing organisational challenges and how to engage with the LGBT+ community itself while also including real-life examples of corporate advocacy initiatives around the world.  \n\n\n\nYou are kindly invited to an explanatory webinar with the report’s author\, Dr. Felicity Daly\, and other stakeholders to take a practical dive into how businesses can truly make a difference.  \n\n\n\nDATE/TIME: Friday\, March 11th 13:00 – 14:00   CET \n\n\n\nACCESS: Open to all\, but registration required \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:PURPLE FRIDAY
DESCRIPTION: PURPLE FRIDAY – ONLINE – BREAKFAST SESSION  \n\n\n\n To kick off Purple Friday 2021 strongly\, we would like to cordially invite you to a special breakfast session\, organised by Academia@Workplace Pride and Student Pride.  \n\n\n\nPurple Friday is a day on which pupils and students can show their solidarity with LGBTIQ+ people by wearing the colour purple at school. In the Netherlands\, the day has been held on the second Friday of December every year since 2010. Purple Friday was inspired by Spirit Day in the United States\, which was first held in 2010 as an expression against bullying of LGBTIQ+ youth.  \n\n\n\nPurple Friday is traditionally celebrated at schools but over the last couple of years\, we’ve seen that higher education and corporate workplaces are embracing this celebration of solidarity with the LGBTIQ+ community.  \n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, we’ll explore what Purple Friday is all about and also why universities and companies are putting Purple Friday on their agendas.  \n\n\n\n Please register to participate via Zoom: Register HERE! \n\n\n\nWe look forward to seeing you online on Purple Friday

SUMMARY:Differ(ent) kinds of energy hosted by Tech@Workplacepride *ONLINE ONLY*
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE FOR ONLINE \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“Differ(ent) kinds of energy”  \n\n\n\nUnfortunately due to the Dutch government’s new COVID restrictions and circumstances beyond our control\, we are sadly unable to have a physical event. However\, there still will be an opportunity to attend the event virtually via a Zoom link. \n\n\n\nClick here for online registration/participation on Thursday\, 18th of November via Zoom. \n\n\n\nEvery year\, the Tech@WorkplacePride programme organises an event from a different city in the Netherlands. This year’s Tech@WPP -online- event will streamed from Brainport Eindhoven\, on the campus of the Eindhoven University of Technology.  \n\n\n\nThe guiding theme of this 2021 edition is sustainability and energy transition\, and the importance of diversity for this mission. We will have talks by leading scientists and industry staff about developments on sustainability and energy\, suited for a lay audience\, mixed with stories/reflections on diversity. There will be both LGBTIQ+ and non-LGBTIQ+ speakers. \n\n\n\nTo ensure a sustainable energy transition in the coming years\, it is necessary for organisations to be more innovative\, build better strategies\, and make courageous choices. Having employees representing diverse communities helps to better understand the environmental impact of the company’s operations\, building more trust among the public\, increasing cultural intelligence\, and developing better strategies. Diverse companies are more innovative and more likely to outperform homogenous teams. \n\n\n\nThis Tech@WorkplacePride event works on the basis of three important objectives: \n\n\n\nAwareness on the importance of diversity for the upcoming energy transition and research.Increase knowledge of developments in sustainability and energy.Build and expand your network and connections of role models and workplace inclusion and diversity ambassadors across different companies and take back concrete actionable ideas and examples to implement in your own organisation.\n\n\n\nThe Dutch Research Council (NWO)\, a major funder of scientific research in the Netherlands\, and its institute DIFFER that conducts leading fundamental research in the fields of fusion energy and solar fuels\, together with Workplace Pride the proud organisers and hosts of this year’s event. \n\n\n\n\nFULL PROGRAM Click Here

SUMMARY:Intersex Day of Solidarity
DESCRIPTION:November 8: Intersex Day of Solidarity (IDS)\, or Intersex Day of Remembrance\, marks the birthday of Herculine Barbin\, a now-famous French intersex person. \n\n\n\nIntersex Day of Solidarity\, also known as Intersex Day of Remembrance\, takes place on November 8. The Day marks the birthday of Herculine Barbin\, a French intersex person whose memoirs were later published by the philosopher Michel Foucault\, along with contemporary texts and a later fictionalized account. \n\n\n\nIn Starry\, Starry Night\, the short life of Herculine Barbin\, Leslie Jaye writes that what little we know of Herculine Barbin has all but obscured the person known variously as Herculine\, Alexina\, and Abel\, during her short life. \n\n\n\nThe event appears to have first been held on 8 November 2005\, as Intersex Solidarity Day. Joëlle-Circé Laramée\, the then Canadian Spokeswoman for Organisation Intersex International\, issued a call for all persons interested in intersex human rights to commemorate the day.

SUMMARY:Workplace Pride Leadership Awards Gala
DESCRIPTION:ALL ABOARD\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\nWe are pleased to invite you to the 2021 Workplace Pride Leadership Awards Gala. The Black-Tie Gala will be held on Friday\, October 29th at the Scheepvaart Museum in Amsterdam.  \n\n\n\nTo celebrate our successful navigation through the tempest of the last 18 months and the venue of the Gala being the Scheepvaart museum\, we thought it perfect to create an event with a nautical theme. \n\n\n\nThis year the Gala’s theme is “Rock The Boat”. Attendees are encouraged to interpret the theme* in their Gala attire with a prize being awarded for the best ‘costume’ so do come dressed for the occasion! For inspiration\, think of a maritime/nautical theme\, 80’s music\, and culture of the TV show “Love Boat” for example\, a light-hearted comedy of fun and romance aboard a cruise ship stopping at various ports. \n\n\n\nGeneral admission for the Gala is €95 per person which includes a 3-course meal\, drinks\, and entertainment. \n\n\n\nThe deadline for registration is Friday\, October 22nd at midnight!  \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY
DESCRIPTION:NCOD was inaugurated in 1988 by Robert Eichberg and Jean O’Leary. Eichberg\, who died in 1995 of complications from AIDS\, was a psychologist from New Mexico and the founder of the personal growth workshop “The Experience”. O’Leary was an openly lesbian political leader and long-time activist from New York\, and was at the time the head of the National Gay Rights Advocates in Los Angeles.[3] LGBT activists\, including Eichberg and O’Leary\, did not want to respond defensively to anti-LGBT action because they believed it would be predictable. This led them to establish NCOD in order to maintain positivity and celebrate coming out.[1] The date of October 11 was chosen because it is the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights.[1] \n\n\n\nMost people think they don’t know anyone gay or lesbian\, and in fact\, everybody does. It is imperative that we come out and let people know who we are and disabuse them of their fears and stereotypes.– Robert Eichberg\, in 1993[3] \n\n\n\nInitially administered from the West Hollywood offices of the National Gay Rights Advocates\, the first NCOD received participation from eighteen states\, garnering national media coverage. In its second year\, NCOD headquarters moved to Santa Fe\, New Mexico\, and participation grew to 21 states. After a media push in 1990 NCOD was observed in all 50 states and seven other countries. Participation continued to grow and in 1990 NCOD merged their efforts with the Human Rights Campaign.[1] \n\n\n\nNational Coming Out Day is observed annually to celebrate coming out and to raise awareness of the LGBT community and civil rights movement. The first decades of observances were marked by private and public people coming out\, often in the media\, to raise awareness and let the mainstream know that everyone knows at least one person who is lesbian or gay.[1] In more recent years\, because coming out as LGBT is now far less risky in most Western countries\, the day is more of a holiday. Participants often wear pride symbols such as pink triangles and rainbow flags. \n\n\n\nNational Coming Out Day is also observed in Ireland\,[4] Switzerland\, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.[5] In the United States\, the Human Rights Campaign sponsors NCOD events under the auspices of their National Coming Out Project\, offering resources to LGBT individuals\, couples\, parents\, and children\, as well as straight friends and relatives\, to promote awareness of LGBT families living honest and open lives. Candace Gingrich became the spokesperson for NCOD in April 1995.[1] From 1999 to 2014 the Human Rights Campaign announced a theme to go with each NCOD:[1]” \n\n\n\nOne of the sources: Wikipedia

SUMMARY:LGBTIQ+ WORKPLACE INCLUSION DAY - COPENHAGEN\, DENMARK
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE FOR WORKPLACE INCLUSION EVENT\n\n\n\n\nThe LGBTI+ Workplace Inclusion Day will focus on how to create workplaces where everyone can be themselves. Throughout the day we will present global\, high-level corporate and governmental speakers\, who will cover all sides of the story from creating supporting structures within organisations to corporate advocacy that can impact LGBTI+ non-friendly legislation. \n\n\n\nRead the detailed information here \n\n\n\nRegistration for the Workplace Inclusion Day has opened\, and you can sign up on the link given below! The tickets for the Copenhagen 2021 LGBTI+ Workplace Inclusion Day are sold as an add-on to the Human Rights Conference. This means that you will first have to purchase a ticket for the Human Rights Conference and then buy the additional ticket for the Workplace Inclusion Day. \n\n\n\nREGISTRATION \n\n\n\nDigital attendance\n\n\n\nWe of course hope that many companies and corporations will be able to join us physically in Copenhagen\, where they will also have the chance to network and participate in our lunch and reception. However\, we also understand the impact that COVID19 has had on global business travel. That is why we are offering a digital version of the Workplace Inclusion Day: We want to ensure that companies and corporations that want to work towards more inclusive work environments have the chance to participate in the conference despite insecurities and travel restrictions. The digital version of the conference will include plenary sessions\, break-out sessions\, and global townhalls in order to make the Workplace Inclusion Day as inclusive and accessible as possible. We are working hard to ensure that these elements will be as interactive as possible so that that participation in the Workplace Inclusion Day remains relevant and engaging even for remote participants. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n*The break-out sessions will be organised and delivered by Nordic and international organisations working with inclusion strategies in various contexts. The break-out sessions will therefore feature a broad selection of interactive discussions\, case studies\, and practical approaches to working with inclusivity in a workplace setting. \n\n\n\n* The town hall sessions are 45-minute live streams focusing on specific regions outside Europe and the situation of workplace inclusion in that region. During these sessions\, participants will be able to engage with regions across the globe.\n\n\n\n\nThe Workplace Inclusion Day is executed in close collaboration with executive partner\, Workplace Pride\, and proudly sponsored by Maersk.

SUMMARY:FIND ALL FLAGS TOUR - AN ALTERNATIVE PRIDE WALK
De Find all Flags tour 2021! \n\n\n\nTogether we are one.  \n\n\n\nDaan Smeelen \, Janne Mooij en Lisa van der Steen \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFor more info about the Alternative Pride Walk Tour visit Stichting Homomonument

SUMMARY:Pride Amsterdam
DESCRIPTION:https://pride.amsterdam/en/\n\n\n\nCelebrating Diversity\n\n\n\nVisibility of the LGBTIQ+ community requires continuous attention and in times of Corona\, this is harder than ever. Last year many events couldn’t take place and even this year we were forced to postpone the Canal Parade to next year (Saturday\, August 6th\, 2022). For all other activities\, we are still investigating under what kind of conditions we are able to start\, but that there will be a Pride in Amsterdam this year is one thing that’s certain. We can’t let our 25th anniversary uncelebrated! For example\, there will be a photo exhibition on Museumplein and we will make a special anniversary photo book. For both\, we are calling on professional and amateur photographers to submit meaningful and iconic photos that match 25 years of Pride Amsterdam.

SUMMARY:Workplace Pride 2021 International LGBTIQ+ Conference: Society at a Crossroads Leveraging LGBTIQ+ Workplace Inclusion for greater impact
DESCRIPTION:ONLINE REGISTRATION OPEN NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis year’s theme will be: “Society at a Crossroads Leveraging LGBTIQ+ Workplace Inclusion for greater impact” \n\n\n\nThe theme of Workplace Pride’s 2021 International Conference says it all. Society is truly at a crossroads and we are all living it every day. As we regularly interact with people online from around the world\, we understand that barriers to communication and progress no longer exist – or at least they shouldn’t exist. \n\n\n\nThis conference will address the hard issues of why not enough is being done. But it will also articulate what employers of all types\, both local and international CAN do to make progress. It will look critically at the role of civil society and the LGBTIQ+ community ourselves to determine if we have done enough to get our message across. Finally\, though\, it will bring all stakeholders together to help shape a working world in which LGBTIQ+ people can truly be themselves. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBe sure and save June 25th from 14:00 until 17:00\, Amsterdam time\, when top decision-makers from the private and public sectors come together with the LGBTIQ+ community for this annual event. \n\n\n\nEnough space to ensure optimal social distancing: 2 seats between each participant.\n\n\n\nThis online element of this event will be open to the general public. Invitations will be distributed on Tuesday\, June 8th.  \n\n\n\nFor additional information click here! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConference Program\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHIS EVENT WILL BE A HYBRID EVENT!

SUMMARY:LGBTI WORKPLACE INCLUSION IN HUNGARY - INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n\n\n\nCreating workplaces where everyone can be themselves is a priority for modern businesses. People that feel included and have a sense of belonging at their places of work are more productive\, better team players\, and make a greater contribution. They are less likely to be ill or need to be replaced\, all of which translates into financial impact for businesses. \n\n\n\nTremendous progress has been made in Europe in the past decade to create equitable workplaces for previously excluded or marginalised groups\, including LGBTI people\, but there is still much room for improvement. During this conference\, we will discuss the barriers as well as the opportunities facing businesses in regards to their LGBTI employees\, clients/customers. It will also explore how investors look increasingly at the breadth of a businesses’ engagement when it comes to equitable workplaces. \n\n\n\nParticipants will include (a.o) representatives from both multinational and Hungarian businesses\, members of Hungarian LGBTI Civil Society\, and members of the diplomatic community. \n\n\n\nGOALS: The conference will address a broad range of issues when it comes to LGBTI inclusion in the workplace. It will focus mainly on the business rationale for creating LGBTI inclusive workplaces. It will demonstrate how both business and society could benefit from a more open inclusive approach to this community. Participants will gain insight and knowledge from experts on each topic and will have the opportunity to engage in interactive discussions. Most importantly\, all participants will leave with the feeling that they personally can play a role in furthering the cause of LGBTI visibility and inclusion in their own workplace. \n\n\n\nDATE / TIME:        Monday\, 17 May\, 15:00 – 17:00 CET \n\n\n\nACCESS:  Open to all\, but registration required \n\n\n\nRegistration is now open!

DESCRIPTION:In recognition of Lesbian Visibility Week\, Workplace Pride is joining forces with our strategic partner\, Catalyst for our latest “Keeping Members Connected” webinar entitled “Intersectionality – Rising to the challenge to be yourself at work”. \n\n\n\nThis fascinating and timely webinar being held on Thursday\, April 29th from 15:00-1600 CET\, will explore the many ways people identify themselves and their impact in the workplace. This includes gender and sexual orientation perspectives but also examines issues surrounding intersectionality such as:  \n\n\n\nAre all of your identities always acknowledged? What about having different identities that are not always mainstream? Does this influence your opportunities in society and at work? How about your abilities to develop yourself? What privileges do you feel based on a specific identity? How can you use this privilege to open doors for others who are not so fortunate?\n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, we will learn from our panel of experts how they have experienced intersectionality\,  specifically when it is related to work. We’ll learn about the impact it has had on their career and what ‘identity’ stood out for them.  We will hear how to deal with\, and even initiate those sometimes uncomfortable conversations that are necessary to ensure progress. Finally\, we will engage with webinar participants through interactive Q&A and learn how to use our privileges to support those who do not have them. \n\n\n\nWhile designed for Workplace Pride and Catalyst members\, we happy to open this webinar also to the general public. Registration is required for this free event. \n\n\n\nEvent details \n\n\n\nEvent:Intersectionality – Rising to the challenge to be yourself at work \n\n\n\nDate/Time: Thursday\, April 29\, 2021\, 15:00-16:00 CET \n\n\n\nAudience: Workplace Pride and Catalyst Members\, stakeholders\, and friends.  \n\n\n\nModerators:  \n\n\n\nWorkplace Pride – Bianca Nijhof – Co-chair Workplace Pride Foundation & Managing Director Netherlands Water PartnershipCatalyst – Anna Sullivan – Senior Associate\n\n\n\nPanelists: \n\n\n\nCatalyst – Caroline Pickard – Ambassador/Consultant The Other Foundation – Sebenzile Nkambule – Exec.
