SUMMARY:NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY
DESCRIPTION:NCOD was inaugurated in 1988 by Robert Eichberg and Jean O’Leary. Eichberg\, who died in 1995 of complications from AIDS\, was a psychologist from New Mexico and the founder of the personal growth workshop “The Experience”. O’Leary was an openly lesbian political leader and long-time activist from New York\, and was at the time the head of the National Gay Rights Advocates in Los Angeles.[3] LGBT activists\, including Eichberg and O’Leary\, did not want to respond defensively to anti-LGBT action because they believed it would be predictable. This led them to establish NCOD in order to maintain positivity and celebrate coming out.[1] The date of October 11 was chosen because it is the anniversary of the 1987 National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights.[1] \n\n\n\nMost people think they don’t know anyone gay or lesbian\, and in fact\, everybody does. It is imperative that we come out and let people know who we are and disabuse them of their fears and stereotypes.– Robert Eichberg\, in 1993[3] \n\n\n\nInitially administered from the West Hollywood offices of the National Gay Rights Advocates\, the first NCOD received participation from eighteen states\, garnering national media coverage. In its second year\, NCOD headquarters moved to Santa Fe\, New Mexico\, and participation grew to 21 states. After a media push in 1990 NCOD was observed in all 50 states and seven other countries. Participation continued to grow and in 1990 NCOD merged their efforts with the Human Rights Campaign.[1] \n\n\n\nNational Coming Out Day is observed annually to celebrate coming out and to raise awareness of the LGBT community and civil rights movement. The first decades of observances were marked by private and public people coming out\, often in the media\, to raise awareness and let the mainstream know that everyone knows at least one person who is lesbian or gay.[1] In more recent years\, because coming out as LGBT is now far less risky in most Western countries\, the day is more of a holiday. Participants often wear pride symbols such as pink triangles and rainbow flags. \n\n\n\nNational Coming Out Day is also observed in Ireland\,[4] Switzerland\, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.[5] In the United States\, the Human Rights Campaign sponsors NCOD events under the auspices of their National Coming Out Project\, offering resources to LGBT individuals\, couples\, parents\, and children\, as well as straight friends and relatives\, to promote awareness of LGBT families living honest and open lives. Candace Gingrich became the spokesperson for NCOD in April 1995.[1] From 1999 to 2014 the Human Rights Campaign announced a theme to go with each NCOD:[1]” \n\n\n\nOne of the sources: Wikipedia

SUMMARY:LGBTIQ+ WORKPLACE INCLUSION DAY - COPENHAGEN\, DENMARK
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE FOR WORKPLACE INCLUSION EVENT\n\n\n\n\nThe LGBTI+ Workplace Inclusion Day will focus on how to create workplaces where everyone can be themselves. Throughout the day we will present global\, high-level corporate and governmental speakers\, who will cover all sides of the story from creating supporting structures within organisations to corporate advocacy that can impact LGBTI+ non-friendly legislation. \n\n\n\nRead the detailed information here \n\n\n\nRegistration for the Workplace Inclusion Day has opened\, and you can sign up on the link given below! The tickets for the Copenhagen 2021 LGBTI+ Workplace Inclusion Day are sold as an add-on to the Human Rights Conference. This means that you will first have to purchase a ticket for the Human Rights Conference and then buy the additional ticket for the Workplace Inclusion Day. \n\n\n\nREGISTRATION \n\n\n\nDigital attendance\n\n\n\nWe of course hope that many companies and corporations will be able to join us physically in Copenhagen\, where they will also have the chance to network and participate in our lunch and reception. However\, we also understand the impact that COVID19 has had on global business travel. That is why we are offering a digital version of the Workplace Inclusion Day: We want to ensure that companies and corporations that want to work towards more inclusive work environments have the chance to participate in the conference despite insecurities and travel restrictions. The digital version of the conference will include plenary sessions\, break-out sessions\, and global townhalls in order to make the Workplace Inclusion Day as inclusive and accessible as possible. We are working hard to ensure that these elements will be as interactive as possible so that that participation in the Workplace Inclusion Day remains relevant and engaging even for remote participants. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n*The break-out sessions will be organised and delivered by Nordic and international organisations working with inclusion strategies in various contexts. The break-out sessions will therefore feature a broad selection of interactive discussions\, case studies\, and practical approaches to working with inclusivity in a workplace setting. \n\n\n\n* The town hall sessions are 45-minute live streams focusing on specific regions outside Europe and the situation of workplace inclusion in that region. During these sessions\, participants will be able to engage with regions across the globe.\n\n\n\n\nThe Workplace Inclusion Day is executed in close collaboration with executive partner\, Workplace Pride\, and proudly sponsored by Maersk.

SUMMARY:PRIDE WALK
?️‍? \n\n\n\nHuisregels: \n\n\n\nGeef elkaar voldoende ruimte!Heb respect voor elkaar!Laat je horen!Laat je in alle kleuren zien! \n\n\n\nWij hebben er zin in\, jij ook?Stichting Homomonument \n\n\n\nWe are going to walk again this year on August 7 2021! Very different from previous years! \n\n\n\nNot from the Homomonument but we depart from the Rai. This because of the covid19 rules in which we still have to keep 1 1/2 meters away. At the Rai there is enough space to make groups and keep the distance. \n\n\n\nAs a group you can join the walk independently. We don’t decide who goes where. Logistically\, there will be a leading group and the rest will follow. ?️‍? \n\n\n\nHouse rules: \n\n\n\nGive each other enough space!Have respect for each other!Make enough noise!Show yourself in all colors! \n\n\n\nWe are excited! You to? \n\n\n\nGay Monument Foundation \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nStart at the RAI at 12 pm – pre-party \n\n\n\nPride Walk starts from the RAI to the Dam at 2 pm

SUMMARY:FIND ALL FLAGS TOUR - AN ALTERNATIVE PRIDE WALK
De Find all Flags tour 2021! \n\n\n\nTogether we are one.  \n\n\n\nDaan Smeelen \, Janne Mooij en Lisa van der Steen \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nFor more info about the Alternative Pride Walk Tour visit Stichting Homomonument

SUMMARY:Pride Amsterdam
DESCRIPTION:https://pride.amsterdam/en/\n\n\n\nCelebrating Diversity\n\n\n\nVisibility of the LGBTIQ+ community requires continuous attention and in times of Corona\, this is harder than ever. Last year many events couldn’t take place and even this year we were forced to postpone the Canal Parade to next year (Saturday\, August 6th\, 2022). For all other activities\, we are still investigating under what kind of conditions we are able to start\, but that there will be a Pride in Amsterdam this year is one thing that’s certain. We can’t let our 25th anniversary uncelebrated! For example\, there will be a photo exhibition on Museumplein and we will make a special anniversary photo book. For both\, we are calling on professional and amateur photographers to submit meaningful and iconic photos that match 25 years of Pride Amsterdam.

DESCRIPTION:ONLINE REGISTRATION OPEN NOW\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis year’s theme will be: “Society at a Crossroads Leveraging LGBTIQ+ Workplace Inclusion for greater impact” \n\n\n\nThe theme of Workplace Pride’s 2021 International Conference says it all. Society is truly at a crossroads and we are all living it every day. As we regularly interact with people online from around the world\, we understand that barriers to communication and progress no longer exist – or at least they shouldn’t exist. \n\n\n\nThis conference will address the hard issues of why not enough is being done. But it will also articulate what employers of all types\, both local and international CAN do to make progress. It will look critically at the role of civil society and the LGBTIQ+ community ourselves to determine if we have done enough to get our message across. Finally\, though\, it will bring all stakeholders together to help shape a working world in which LGBTIQ+ people can truly be themselves. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBe sure and save June 25th from 14:00 until 17:00\, Amsterdam time\, when top decision-makers from the private and public sectors come together with the LGBTIQ+ community for this annual event. \n\n\n\nEnough space to ensure optimal social distancing: 2 seats between each participant.\n\n\n\nThis online element of this event will be open to the general public. Invitations will be distributed on Tuesday\, June 8th.  \n\n\n\nFor additional information click here! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConference Program\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTHIS EVENT WILL BE A HYBRID EVENT!

SUMMARY:LGBTI WORKPLACE INCLUSION IN HUNGARY - INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE\n\n\n\nCreating workplaces where everyone can be themselves is a priority for modern businesses. People that feel included and have a sense of belonging at their places of work are more productive\, better team players\, and make a greater contribution. They are less likely to be ill or need to be replaced\, all of which translates into financial impact for businesses. \n\n\n\nTremendous progress has been made in Europe in the past decade to create equitable workplaces for previously excluded or marginalised groups\, including LGBTI people\, but there is still much room for improvement. During this conference\, we will discuss the barriers as well as the opportunities facing businesses in regards to their LGBTI employees\, clients/customers. It will also explore how investors look increasingly at the breadth of a businesses’ engagement when it comes to equitable workplaces. \n\n\n\nParticipants will include (a.o) representatives from both multinational and Hungarian businesses\, members of Hungarian LGBTI Civil Society\, and members of the diplomatic community. \n\n\n\nGOALS: The conference will address a broad range of issues when it comes to LGBTI inclusion in the workplace. It will focus mainly on the business rationale for creating LGBTI inclusive workplaces. It will demonstrate how both business and society could benefit from a more open inclusive approach to this community. Participants will gain insight and knowledge from experts on each topic and will have the opportunity to engage in interactive discussions. Most importantly\, all participants will leave with the feeling that they personally can play a role in furthering the cause of LGBTI visibility and inclusion in their own workplace. \n\n\n\nDATE / TIME:        Monday\, 17 May\, 15:00 – 17:00 CET \n\n\n\nACCESS:  Open to all\, but registration required \n\n\n\nRegistration is now open!

SUMMARY:Intersectionality Webinar hosted by Catalyst
DESCRIPTION:In recognition of Lesbian Visibility Week\, Workplace Pride is joining forces with our strategic partner\, Catalyst for our latest “Keeping Members Connected” webinar entitled “Intersectionality – Rising to the challenge to be yourself at work”. \n\n\n\nThis fascinating and timely webinar being held on Thursday\, April 29th from 15:00-1600 CET\, will explore the many ways people identify themselves and their impact in the workplace. This includes gender and sexual orientation perspectives but also examines issues surrounding intersectionality such as:  \n\n\n\nAre all of your identities always acknowledged? What about having different identities that are not always mainstream? Does this influence your opportunities in society and at work? How about your abilities to develop yourself? What privileges do you feel based on a specific identity? How can you use this privilege to open doors for others who are not so fortunate?\n\n\n\nIn this webinar\, we will learn from our panel of experts how they have experienced intersectionality\,  specifically when it is related to work. We’ll learn about the impact it has had on their career and what ‘identity’ stood out for them.  We will hear how to deal with\, and even initiate those sometimes uncomfortable conversations that are necessary to ensure progress. Finally\, we will engage with webinar participants through interactive Q&A and learn how to use our privileges to support those who do not have them. \n\n\n\nWhile designed for Workplace Pride and Catalyst members\, we happy to open this webinar also to the general public. Registration is required for this free event. \n\n\n\nEvent details \n\n\n\nEvent:Intersectionality – Rising to the challenge to be yourself at work \n\n\n\nDate/Time: Thursday\, April 29\, 2021\, 15:00-16:00 CET \n\n\n\nAudience: Workplace Pride and Catalyst Members\, stakeholders\, and friends.  \n\n\n\nModerators:  \n\n\n\nWorkplace Pride – Bianca Nijhof – Co-chair Workplace Pride Foundation & Managing Director Netherlands Water PartnershipCatalyst – Anna Sullivan – Senior Associate\n\n\n\nPanelists: \n\n\n\nCatalyst – Caroline Pickard – Ambassador/Consultant The Other Foundation – Sebenzile Nkambule – Exec. SUMMARY:Lesbian Visibility Week
DESCRIPTION:Lesbian Visibility Week aims to show our solidarity with every woman within the LGBTIQ+ community\, as well as celebrate lesbians. It is essential that Lesbian Visibility Week is a voice for unity and lifts up ALL women\, especially those who come from marginalised communities. Recent research (Pride Matters survey\, conducted by Pride In London 2018) has shown that gay women are almost twice as unlikely to be out in the workplace as gay male colleagues. \n\n\n\nThere has been a Lesbian Visibility Day since 2008.Building on this\, we want to create a week that recognises\, celebrates and importantly supports lesbian\, bisexual\, transgender and queer women across the UK and beyond to be their true selves at work\, at home and socially.

SUMMARY:IBM and Workplace Pride collaborate in LGBTIQ+ innovation
DESCRIPTION:Although LGBTIQ+ people are protected by laws addressing employment and other forms of discrimination in a growing proportion of countries\, there remain far too many LGBTIQ+ people around the globe whose rights are not protected. In many countries\, LGBTIQ+ citizens are breaking laws just by being themselves. Even in legally progressive nations\, many LGBTIQ+ people still feel that they cannot reveal their authentic identity in many professional\, academic\, and social settings. \n\n\n\nTo continue advancing inclusion and belonging for the full spectrum of the LGBTIQ+ community at work\, home\, and society at large\, the IBM Institute for Business Value (IBV) is collaborating with Workplace Pride\, and Out & Equal to host a Global LGBTIQ+ Innovation Jam. \n\n\n\nRegistration will open on 29 March here: https://lnkd.in/g7Hy-z7  \n\n\n\nStarting at 8am ET on Tuesday\, April 13th and running continuously through until 5pm ET on Wednesday\, April 14th\, the Jam is a virtual\, text-based event where thousands of business leaders; D&I experts; academics; and other allies will come together to explore the solutions to the barriers that still slow the advancement of LGBTIQ+ individuals in the workplace. \n\n\n\nThe Global LGBTIQ+ Innovation Jam is an open and inclusive forum for discussion and sharing around 7 important themes: \n\n\n\nCorporate & individual championshipLGBT+ intersectionalityMental healthTransgender and non-binary belongingAllyshipVisibility and developmentImpact of technology\n\n\n\nRegister for the Global LGBT+ Innovation Jam and join the discussion – for a few minutes or for all 33 hours! Input from Jammers will be analyzed by IBM’s proprietary Innovation Jam® AI-enabled technology and the results may be used to inform an upcoming LGBT+ Leadership study that is being published in celebration of Pride Month in June.

SUMMARY:Trans Visibility Day
DESCRIPTION:Today illustrates the importance of transgender representation worldwide\, especially as transgender and gender-nonconforming people face risks every day. According to a recent Gallup poll\, 11.3 percent of LGBT adults identify as transgender\, yet when it comes to representation in the media\, there are only 29 transgender characters across prime-time broadcast\, cable\, and streaming originals\, according to media advocacy organization GLAAD. \n\n\n\nThe first Transgender Woman Lisa van Ginneken was sworn in to Dutch Parliament today.

SUMMARY:Academia@Workplacepride Webinar: Challenges faced by international LGBTIQ+ students
DESCRIPTION:Our latest “Keeping Members Connected”webinar will be held on Wednesday March 24 from 12:00-13:00 CET. The primary topic will be “Challenges faced by international LGBTIQ+ students.” \n\n\n\nThe topic of academia and the inherent challenges for LGBTIQ+ persons studying or working within its many layers\, is an area sorely in need of attention and discussion. After the inaugural webinar on the 24th of August 2020\, and “Queering the Curriculum” on the 23rd of November 2020\, Academia@WorkplacePride wants to make further progress and drill deeper into relevant topics. \n\n\n\n“Challenges faced by international LGBTIQ+ students”In this webinar\, we will focus on what expectations international LGBTIQ+ students have when they come to study in the Netherlands. Is there enough social safety to be yourself\, and what do universities and colleges do to create a solid safety net? What challenges and obstacles do students face\, and if and how it affects internships. The role of companies in organising safe internships will also be discussed. \n\n\n\nVarious speakers from Twente University and Saxion University of Applied Sciences will discuss how they can be more inclusive on the basis of the following questions: \n\n\n\nWhat expectations did you have when you came to study in the Netherlands? Was there any focus on social safety? What arrangements were in place? Were there any problems finding an internship\, were you sufficiently supported to make good use of it?What role can companies play in creating safe internships for students?\n\n\n\nAs always with our webinars there will be an interactive Q&A section from the viewers which always deepens the discussion. This webinar is for Workplace Pride members as well as the general public. Registration is required (for security) for this free event. SUMMARY:International Woman's Day matters for LGBTQI+ people
DESCRIPTION:Lesbian\, bisexual and transgender women are facing even greater disadvantages because of their sexual orientation and gender identity and as a result often suffer from multiple discrimination and disadvantages. \n\n\n\nWe know that there is\, and always has been\, more that unites us than divides us. But only when we acknowledge the shared nature of our struggles can we work together to create a world where everyone is safe\, supported\, and free to be themselves. On this International Women’s Day\, we urge our communities to come together in solidarity and begin taking the steps needed to make this a reality.

SUMMARY:TEDDY AWARD at the International Film Festival in Berlin
DESCRIPTION:The TEDDY AWARD is a societal engaged political award\, which is given to films and people\, that communicate queer themes and content on a large scale and contribute with this to more tolerance\, acceptance\, solidarity\, and equality in society. The TEDDY AWARD has with this not only cultural importance. As long as queer life is threatened in parts of the world with the capital punishment and is even in towns like Berlin a homo- and transphobe power in the agenda\, TEDDY AWARD also carries a political significance and responsibility. SUMMARY:Rainbow Families Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Our aim is to introduce Workplace Pride’s international member base and friends to the existence of “Rainbow families”. Shedding light and ideas about how rainbow families are constructed. SUMMARY:Workplace Pride Webinar: Introduction of LGBTIQ+ acronym
DESCRIPTION:Workplace Pride has decided to expand our descriptive acronym from LGBTI to LGBTIQ+ \n\n\n\nAre acronyms a necessary evil? Will they keep expanding?  \n\n\n\nFor Workplace Pride\, the “Q” in Queer has many facets which play out differently across generations. How can we get those who feel the historical stigma around the term to change their minds? \n\n\n\nFor those who are comfortable with the term\, what is the core meaning for them? \n\n\n\nCan our community come together via the modern positive nuance of “Queer”? \n\n\n\nFor the plus “+” part of the expansion\, we feel it includes the other parts of the gender/sexuality spectrum. How do we make allies stronger allies whilst incorporating them via the “+”? \n\n\n\nClick here for the webinar on our YouTube channel.
