SUMMARY:Rainbow Families Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Our aim is to introduce Workplace Pride’s international member base and friends to the existence of “Rainbow families”. Shedding light and ideas about how rainbow families are constructed. The speakers will discuss the inherent issues and complexities\, as well as how these could affect employment (and conditions). \n\n\n\nWe hope to inspire Workplace Pride’s members and their HR departments to acknowledge this important subject. Exploring the need to deeply consider how to best support employees that form part of a rainbow family in their workplace. \n\n\n\nOur speakers : \n\n\n\nKarin Geerts works for ING\, and is a mother together with her wife. \n\n\n\nSara Coster has been involved with Meer Dan Gewenst for well over a decade. Sara co-parents her two sons together with a male couple. \n\n\n\nBianca Busser is an HR professional at HEMA\, which has taken progressive steps to be inclusive to all rainbow families\, focusing on the practical relationship between parents and children rather than the legal rights between parents and children. \n\n\n\nModerator : Jelle Martens co-parents his 7 and 9 year old with his husband and a female couple. He was previously involved with Meer Dan Gewenst\, but now is a board member of Workplace Pride.\n\n\n\nThe webinar starts promptly at 13:00 CET on the 10th of February \n\n\n\nPlease note that most commonly used browsers should be compatible but viewing via a VPN or Company network may present problems. \n\n\n\nRegistration is required\, please register HERE!

SUMMARY:Workplace Pride Webinar: Introduction of LGBTIQ+ acronym
DESCRIPTION:Workplace Pride has decided to expand our descriptive acronym from LGBTI to LGBTIQ+ \n\n\n\nAre acronyms a necessary evil? Will they keep expanding?  \n\n\n\nFor Workplace Pride\, the “Q” in Queer has many facets which play out differently across generations. How can we get those who feel the historical stigma around the term to change their minds? \n\n\n\nFor those who are comfortable with the term\, what is the core meaning for them? \n\n\n\nCan our community come together via the modern positive nuance of “Queer”? \n\n\n\nFor the plus “+” part of the expansion\, we feel it includes the other parts of the gender/sexuality spectrum. How do we make allies stronger allies whilst incorporating them via the “+”? \n\n\n\nClick here for the webinar on our YouTube channel.

SUMMARY:Academia@WorkplacePride Webinar
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to the Academia@WorkplacePride live webinar in our “Keeping Members Connected” series on Monday November 23rdat noon CEST. \n\n\n\nThe topic of academia and the inherent challenges for LGBTI persons studying or working within its many layers\, is an area sorely in need of attention and discussion. After the inaugural webinar on the 24thof August 2020\, Academia@WorkplacePride wants to make further progress and look more deeply into substantive topics. \n\n\n\n“Queering the Curriculum” \n\n\n\nIn this webinar we will focus on the educational aspects of academia and it particular the curriculum. Is there am LGBTI lens on the curriculum? If so what are the implications and is this as relevant in the STEM disciplines  as it is in the humanities and the social sciences. \n\n\n\nSpeakers from the universities of Amsterdam and Leiden will discuss how they can be more inclusive on the basis of the following questions: \n\n\n\nWhat does it mean to ‘queer’ a curriculum? What is heteronormative in your discipline? How do different faculties incorporate queer concepts? Is the curriculum queered in the Netherlands just like as in other countries or are their national differences? \n\n\n\nAs always with our webinars there’ll be a live Q&A section from the viewers which always deepens the panel format. This webinar is for members as well as the general public\, freely accessible for all after registration. SUMMARY:There is Always a Rainbow in the Cloud hosted by Tech@WorkplacePride
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, the Tech@WorkplacePride programme organises an event from a different city in the Netherlands. After Delft\, Eindhoven and Enschede it is now Groningen’s turn to organise this Tech@WorkplacePride event. \n\n\n\nThe guiding theme of the 2020 Groningen edition is Data Ethics\, which refers to a code or behaviour and adherence to the principles and values on which human rights and personal data protection laws are based. It is about honest and genuine transparency in data management. Data ethics is a step further than mere compliance with personal data protection laws like GDPR. \n\n\n\nData ethics includes (but is not limited to) the following 3 pillars:  \n\n\n\nData processing: collecting\, generating\, recording\, curating\, processing\, sharing and using of data\, as well as the detection and removal of bias;Algorithms: AI\, machine learning\, transparency\, explainability\, artificial agents and bots; Similar practices: responsible innovation\, programming\, hacking and professional codes.\n\n\n\nTo keep track of good use of data we need a resilient democracy with well-functioning legislation and laws to prevent public and private organisations from collecting data against specific groups of people. More and more examples are emerging where data is being misused.  \n\n\n\nAs we also see in the recent COVID-19 pandemic there are organisations around the world using such data in order to reduce the impact of its spread\, at the cost of people’s privacy.  \n\n\n\nHow should resilient democracies such as ours respond and ensure that such data are not used against the LGBTI community? Which ethical and moral choices do we have to make? Must the importance of privacy balance against the general interest of public health and the economy? \n\n\n\nEvent: Tech@WorkplacePride Goningen editionDate/Time:  Friday\, November 13\, 2020: 14:30 – 17:00 (CET)Audience:    Workplace Pride Members\, stakeholders\, and friendsLocation:      Due to the Covid-19 regulations it will be broadcasted from the Workplace Pride office in AmsterdamHost:               IBM Client Innovation Centre Benelux \n\n\n\nModerator:  Danny Belitz – Data Scientist\, Cognitive & Analytics PracticeLead CIC Benelux\, EAGLE BNL\, Co-Lead Diversity & Inclusion Ambassador IBM in Groningen \n\n\n\nEvent details: \n\n\n\nPeter Zijlema – General Manager IBM Benelux / Algemeen Directeur IBM NederlandLeofwin Visman – Managing Director IBM Client Innovation Center Benelux IBMHelena van de Bovenkamp – Data Privacy Officer Saxion University of Applied SciencesDylan Beckbridge – Data Privacy Specialist Clifford Chance LLPDr. Willeke Slingerland – LLM Professor (Applied Research) Resilient Democracy Saxion UASAmon Versteeg – Marketing Director Suppliers & Industry at Booking.com\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPROGRAM\n\n\n[wpdm_package id=’8491′] \n\n\n\nHow to connect:  \n\n\n\nPlease use Google Chrome or Firefox.Microsoft Edge is not supported.Link: Workplace Pride Live Webinar  Select Webinar Tech@WorkplacePrideI look forward to seeing you on the 13th of November online!

SUMMARY:Taiwan Conference – Trailblazing LGBTI Workplace inclusion in Asia - October 27th 2020
DESCRIPTION:Same-sex marriage is now a fact in Taiwan. As the first nation in Asia to take this step\, what are the implications for the workplace and how does this fit into the bigger picture of Diversity and Inclusion? And now\, within the context of social and geo-political change surrounding the global pandemic\, how can all stakeholders work together to build on marriage equality in Taiwan and continue its leadership role for LGBTI inclusion across Asia? \n\n\n\nThis unique\, bi-national and multi-media conference within a global context is entitled\, “Taiwan – Trailblazing LGBTI Workplace Inclusion in Asia – Marriage equality in times of social change”. SUMMARY:National Coming Out Day
DESCRIPTION:National Coming Out Day (NCOD) is an annual LGBT awareness day observed on October 11\, to support lesbian\, gay\, bisexual and transgender people to “come out of the closet“. It is a great opportunity for employers to demonstrate that everyone is accepted. By giving visibility to this day at the workplace\, employees feel less anxious about sharing other aspects of their personality and their identity. Sexual orientation is a non-visible type of diversity and sometimes people need to feel safe before opening up to their colleagues\, family and friends. Do you want to know more about NCOD? Visit HRC’s website: https://buff.ly/2pDowdy \n\n\n\nAre any of our members organizing a NCOD activity\, if so please share with us. Send content to us info@workplacepride.org

SUMMARY:LGBTI People of Colour Speakers Biographies
DESCRIPTION:CEST Time Zone \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCheyenne Smaal is a successful coaching executive at Waternet. She is a Hindustani Surinamese and transgender. That combination made\, amongst other things\, for a very difficult childhood. \n\n\n\nCheyenne is the first-born son in a proud Hindu family. Nothing was talked about in her culture; being transgender is a taboo. Cheyenne felt unheard\, unseen\, lonely and misunderstood. These struggles became unbearable at one point. Cheyenne made the choice at that stage to want to get out of life\, but something happened that saved her. Cheyenne has managed to turn the negative events in her life into positive life experiences and lessons. For her\, it was the start of her transformation into “being who she is”\, on a personal and professional level. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWinston van Niel (Moderator) is the founder of Parea Nederland\, a growing network of Dutch and Netherlands based LGBTQ+ professionals of colour. He’s an independent consultant in SME innovation funds management.  After a career in the Dutch public sector\, he worked his way up to a European position in funds management within the energy transition sector until 2019. He also serves on the Board of COC Nederland.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n My name is Kevin Kabatsi. I am a 27 year old Ugandan living in Amsterdam and Program manager for Africa at the Rabobank Foundation. I grew up in both South Africa and Uganda where discrimination based on my race and sexuality was key in my formation as an adolescent. I eventually moved to the Netherlands 4 years ago to study (and for love – I had a Dutch partner) and I haven’t looked back since. I’ve matured here and feel comfortable being a helping guide for those who wish to follow my lead. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAurora Guds has worked for 14 years at the Ministry of Finance. For the last two and half years she has been an active board member of B/Proud\, the LGTBI-network of the ministry. Last year she organised Canal Pride in Amsterdam with Dutch Government Pride. Her true ambition is to further secure LGBTI interests via improvement of the workplace policies of the Ministry of Finance. \n\n\n\nShe is making sure that important themes such as cultural-change\, inclusive leadership and promotion of consciousness will be put on the agenda.  \n\n\n\n“The problem we deal with at the moment is: What is the scope of ‘being yourself at work’. What does that mean?”.

How should resilient democracies such as ours respond\, and ensure that such data are not used against the LGBTI community? Which ethical and moral choices do we have to make? Must the importance of privacy balance against the general interest of public health and the economy? \n\n\n\nBe sure and tune into this webinar which will cover these and other topical questions in a sample of the Tech@Workplace Pride live event on November 13th in Groningen (see banner below) \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nSubject: There is always a rainbow in the Cloud \n\n\n\nHost: Tech@Workplacepride \n\n\n\nModerator: Danny Belitz\, Data Scientist\, IBM \n\n\n\nExpert: Mr.dr. This fact has become even more evident in the current COVID-19 pandemic.  At this crucial juncture in our history\, LGBTI Women have the power and should seize the opportunity to claim a strategic position in society. But how are female leaders doing that right now? What are the ideas to maintain visibility in the future and how can we continue to include all LGBTI women in this process? This webinar explores how LGBTI women can have their voices heard about the future of work\, their place in the community\, and their place in politics as we all adjust to the new post-pandemic reality.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nMargot Slattery \n\n\n\nGlobal Diversity and Inclusion Officer at Sodexo \n\n\n\n\nSubject: Female Leadership in Times of Crisis: Hosted by Women@WorkplacePride \n\n\n\nHost: Margot Slattery\,Global Diversity and Inclusion Officer at Sodexo \n\n\n\nModerator: Marion Mulder\, Board Member Workplace Pride Foundation \n\n\n\nAudience: Workplace Pride members\, but also open to LGBTI workplace friends & allies \n\n\n\nHow to connect:  \n\n\n\nLink: Workplace Pride Live Webinar  Select Webinar: Female Leadership in Times of Crisis hosted by Women@WorkplacePride

SUMMARY:International Day Against Homophobia\, Transphobia and Biphobia 2020
DESCRIPTION:The global COVID-19 pandemic is affecting us all\, and many initiatives for May 17\, the International Day against Homophobia\, Transphobia and Biphobia have been either cancelled or delayed. But physical distancing doesn’t have to mean social distancing!Communities are more important than ever and physical distancing should mean getting socially even closer. \n\n\n\nMay 17 will provide a key opportunity for this\, and this article brings you plenty of ideas on how to make it happen! \n\n\n\nClick HERE \n\n\n\nBackground\n\n\n\nThe International Day Against Homophobia\, Transphobia and Biphobia was created in 2004 to draw the attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by lesbian\, gay\, bisexuals\, transgender\, intersex people and all other people with diverse sexual orientations\, gender identities or expressions\, and sex characteristics. \n\n\n\nIn our families\, in our social circles\, at work\, in our sports clubs\, for many of us our Sexualities\, Gender Identities or Sex Characteristics must be hidden. We wander through most of our lives with the stigma of feeling ashamed of who we are. \n\n\n\nOn May 17\, the International Day against Homophobia\, Transphobia and Biphobia will be breaking some of that silence. This year again\, tens of thousands of us will speak up. We will take the space that is rightfully ours\, because our voices\, our stories\, our lived realities matter! \n\n\n\nBy all coming together on one global day\, our “noise” will be so loud that all our LGBTQI+++ sisters and brothers all over the world who cannot speak up will hear the sound of hope and solidarity. \n\n\n\nJoin the global noise! Make your voice heard on May 17\, 2020 \n\n\n\nThe Day is not one single campaign. It is a moment when thousands of ideas and initiatives converge over a single vision: freedom and equality for all sexual\, gender and bodily minorities.  \n\n\n\nYou can join in whichever way you want: shout out on your social media\, organise an event near you\, contact your local LGBTQI++ organisation to see what they have planned\, call on your local authority to get them to celebrate the Day\, decorate your office\, organise a movie night\, etc. Be creative\, this is YOUR day ! \n\n\n\nMay 17 is now celebrated in more than 130 countries\, including 37 where same-sex acts are illegal. Thousands of initiatives\, big and small\, are reported throughout the planet.
