DESCRIPTION:November 8: Intersex Day of Solidarity (IDS)\, or Intersex Day of Remembrance\, marks the birthday of Herculine Barbin\, a now famous French intersex person. \n\n\n\nIntersex Day of Solidarity\, also known as Intersex Day of Remembrance\, takes place on November 8. The Day marks the birthday of Herculine Barbin\, a French intersex person whose memoirs were later published by the philosopher Michel Foucault\, along with contemporary texts and a later fictionalized account. \n\n\n\nIn Starry\, Starry Night\, the short life of Herculine Barbin\, Leslie Jaye writes that what little we know of Herculine Barbin has all but obscured the person known variously as Herculine\, Alexina and Abel\, during her short life. \n\n\n\nThe event appears to have first been held on 8 November 2005\, as Intersex Solidarity Day. Joëlle-Circé Laramée\, the then Canadian Spokeswoman for Organisation Intersex International\, issued a call for all persons interested in intersex human rights to commemorate the day.

SUMMARY:Tech@WorkplacePride Company visit – 16 November 2022 – Maersk Rotterdam
DESCRIPTION:In 2021\, Maersk\, the global integrator of container logistics\, received the “Best media representation award” from Workplace Pride\, for the campaign with their rainbow containers. A good reason to get to know Maersk a bit better and visit them in Rotterdam. \n\n\n\n Learning from best practices fits the goals of the Tech@WorkplacePride group. During this event\, Maersk will therefore inform us about their D&I strategy. Maersk will also give us a peak into their world of logistics\, huge vessels\, and the port of Rotterdam\, which is particularly interesting for the Tech@WorkplacePride community.  \n\n\n\nFor the participants\, it also creates the opportunity to get in contact with other tech companies and D&I officers\, on the bus while visiting the terminal\, and during dinner and drinks downtown Rotterdam. For Maersk\, it will not only increase their visibility for the LGBTIQ+ community in general but also contribute to awareness about the community at the workplace of Maersk. Please follow this link to find more details about this amazing event.

In this cross-generational talk\, we have invited twoleading examples to share their personal stories to increase workplace awareness. Corine(she/her)\, the former journalist for public broadcast stations\, transitioned in the late eighties andbecame active with Transgender Netwerk Nederland in 2011. Ellen (she/her) on the otherhand\, has her own company and started her transition two years ago. She spent a lot oftime sharing her stories with her clients. Let’s hear from Corine and Ellen how much we’veachieved over the past decades\, how different the experiences are between the nineties andnow and what can still be achieved.
